Overview
Program Overview
Free discrete and confidential HIV and HepC testing for anyone in the community. Consists of a quick and easy finger-stick test. Rapid (results in ~20 minutes) or molecular (results in 1-3 weeks). Testing is available from the comfort of outreach van or office. For more complicated cases, referrals for laboratory testing can be arranged. For those with a history of HCV exposure, molecular or laboratory testing can be performed to confirm active infection. $10 gift card incentive for testing!
Eligibility
Our HIV Programs are available to anyone residing in Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties. No health insurance required.

Offered Services
A resident of any of the above counties with laboratory-confirmed HIV status, regardless of age, gender identity, income, or citizenship status. Requires an initial and annual assessment of medical needs, income, housing, and health insurance. Annual laboratory testing to monitor CD-4 cell and viral load counts are required to stay in compliance.

Health Counseling
For clients, family members, and the public, current HIV and AIDS information is vital. ASN’s Health Counselor provides current treatment information, links to the medical community, and, for clients, can give referrals to physicians and discuss drug side effects and disease progression.

Benefits Counseling
Insurance and benefit programs such as SSI, SSDI, Medi-Cal, Medicare, ADAP, OAHIPP, and private insurance programs can be confusing and daunting to those trying to utilize them. ASN’s Case Managers help our clients access the benefits available to them.

Housing
Finding suitable and stable housing for our clients is one of our highest priorities. ASN’s Housing & Benefits Specialists advise clients, assist with housing searches, liaison with local housing programs (such as Section 8), and work with clients concerning utilities.

Food Pantry
The Access Support Network operates its own food pantry, available to all ASN clients, which supplies clients with canned goods, dry goods, fresh produce, and toiletries. Since many of our clients live on minimal incomes, finding ways to stretch dollars is significant. With food from the pantry, clients do not have to spend as much at the grocery store each month. Available to all ASN clients.
