Program Overview
Free Hepatitis C testing for anyone. Quick and easy finger-stick test. Rapid (results in ~20 minutes) or molecular (results in 1-3 weeks) testing available from the comfort of the outreach van or office. For more complicated cases, referrals for laboratory testing can be arranged. For those with a history of HCV exposure, molecular or laboratory testing will be necessary to confirm an active infection.
Eligibility
Anyone is eligible to receive free HCV testing, treatment information and prevention education.

Offered Services
Our HepC services are available to anyone residing in Monterey, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara Counties, regardless of age, gender identity, income, or citizenship status. To be eligible for telehealth treatment, you must have an active HCV infection, confirmed through laboratory testing, and no serious health complications. Uninsured? No problem. ASN’s Patient Navigator can connect clients without insurance to programs that assist with the costs of HCV treatment and medications.

HepC Treatment Access
Hepatitis C can be cured in as soon as 8 weeks. Our HCV Patient Navigator guides HCV positive individuals throughout their treatment process and addresses any concerns or questions that may arise. Most clients are eligible for telehealth treatment with our healthcare provider, meaning a cure is possible without ever stepping foot in a doctor’s office!

Health Counseling
For clients, family members, and the public, current HIV and AIDS information is vital. ASN’s Health Counselor provides current treatment information, links to the medical community, and, for clients, can give referrals to physicians and discuss drug side effects and disease progression.

Benefits Counseling
Insurance and benefit programs such as SSI, SSDI, Medi-Cal, Medicare, etc. can be confusing and daunting to those trying to utilize them. ASN’s Patient Navigators help our clients access the benefits available to them.

Food Pantry
The Access Support Network operates its own food pantry, available to all ASN clients, which supplies clients with canned goods, dry goods, fresh produce, and toiletries. Since many of our clients live on minimal incomes, finding ways to stretch dollars is significant. With food from the pantry, clients do not have to spend as much at the grocery store each month. Available to all ASN clients.

Harm Reduction
Resources for people who use drugs and their loved ones, including access to Narcan, needle collection and distribution, medication for opioid use, wound care, overdose prevention education, and more.
