Medications For Opioid use disorder (MOUD)

ASN’s Medication for Opioid Use Disorder Program assists individuals in reducing or stopping their opioid use with the help of a safe and effective medication called Suboxone. Suboxone contains both buprenorphine and naloxone, which when taken together, prevents withdrawal and craving symptoms by binding to the same brain receptors that opiates do. It is low-barrier, street-based, and does not require sobriety as a component of treatment.

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) medication for the prevention of HIV transmission. Convenient, discrete and little to no cost (depending on insurance) prescribing through a partner telemedicine platform called Mistr. Uninsured? Not a problem. Mistr will enroll you in a patient program to cover the cost of the medication. Lab work and all communications with the prescribing doctor can be completed right from the comfort of home. ASN’s PrEP Patient Navigator is also available to help clients navigate STI treatment, prescription issues, and address any concerns that may arise. Any HIV-negative individual who is 18 or older can receive PrEP through Mistr.

Syringe service programs (ssp)

Since 2017, ASN has overseen a very successful syringe service program in Monterey County. In addition to exchanging used syringes for sterile ones, drug equipment such as pipes, and overdose prevention supplies such as Narcan and fentanyl testing strips are available for participants. Our SSP program ensures that people who use drugs and their loved ones have the tools they need to prevent overdose deaths and the spread of HIV or Hep C.

Opioid overdose prevention

ASN’s Opioid Overdose Prevention Team was made possible through funds from the Behavioral Health Justice Intervention Services Grant in Monterey County. The OOPT responds to substance use disorder and other mental health crises with compassion and practical solutions, by mobilizing community and peer resources alongside law enforcement. It is intended to improve health outcomes and promote social justice by diverting people in need toward healthcare and supportive services rather than incarceration.

Food Pantry

The Access Support Network operates its own food pantry, available to all ASN clients, which supplies clients with canned goods, dry goods, fresh produce, and toiletries. Since many of our clients live on minimal incomes, finding ways to stretch dollars is significant. With food from the pantry, clients do not have to spend as much at the grocery store each month. Available to all ASN clients.
